Okay, okay. Here's my promised "10 Reasons Why It Sucks To Be A Man", which is in response to JTS:
http://wheredapoint.blogspot.com/2007/10/its-good-to-be-man.html
1. The expectation of constant stoicism. I mean, not that I cry ever, or break down in to sappy mushfests, but honestly? It's nice to have the option of doing so without being looked upon with disgust and scorn.
2. No girl friend relationship. Girls who are friends are close in different ways than guys who are
friends. There's more cracking up over rediculous inside jokes until you both feel like death and
less, er, punching.
3. On dates, you're kind of expected (usually) to pick up the tab. Haha, sucker. (That's why I insist that I pay-- screw your sense of misplaced chivalry!)
4. Also re: relationships-- you're expected to make the first legitimate move. Even if you're shy as hell. Even if she's
coming on stronger. Even if you have no freakin' idea what you're doing. Sucks, don' it?
5. If you have friends of both genders, all of a sudden you're apparently gay. Girls can generally
get away with "hanging with the guys" or being tomboyish than guys can hanging with girls nonsexually for any significant length of time. That is a major problem, sayeth the non-tomboyish guys' girl.
6. You're expected to know what you're doing in regards to more or less everything. For
whatever reason, if a girl is or plays dumb, that's endearing. If a guy's clueless around, say, a car, the
house, [academic subject], whatever, he's slightly looked down upon.
7. If you were to dress up in slightly-nicer-than-usual duds for whatever reason, the only thing you can expect
is to be ragged on. (Even if the girls are all behind your back giving you the lookover.)
8. Blueballs? Nah kid. Girls have to deny ever being horny, sure, but at least it only results in psychological pain.
9. You're expected to talk a big game. Never admit your weaknesses.
Enhance (or bullshit) yoursexual, athletic, and personal prowesses.
10. No tits. Well, no GOOD ones. Heh.
So, how's that, James?

For some reason (probably my own fault) the response I posted disappeared. In fact, it probably didn't post.
In regards to the blue balls comment...

So... here goes attempt number two of my response.
1. I think that's really a cultural thing. I find that in smaller, more back woods communities (and I find a lot of those in NorAm) that holds true, whereas in larger, more liberal cities, its not so much. It also really depends on the situation. For example, I'm never going to cry at the end of a romantic movie or something, but I know guys who shed tears when they kill off the good looking women on TV or Movies.
2. I don't quite get this one, as this is the first I'm hearing this. (to be fair, after a certain point, the text is getting cut off, so I don't know exactly the point you might be making on this one.)
3. Absolutely. It's a minor form of prostitution really, we pick up the check and we expect you lot to give us something in return.
4. I'll give you that, although I've been propositioned in bars and whatnot before, so that's starting to change.
5. I dunno bout this. With some of my female friendships, its perceived as me just trying to get into their pants, as is the case for a significant portion of men.
6. I'll give you this one, although I'd like to note that in this modern age, lots of men don't know what the hell is going on under the hood of a car.
7. This goes both ways, but men tend to be much harsher because of it. (think back to what you said about plainness in response to my post.)
8. See earlier comment.
9. Speaking for myself, I do this instinctively. As to other men, it's really a guy thing. We do this just like some women might compare costs of things or something. I don't know what you women do with your time.
10. No tits? absolutely not. As to good ones? well, breast implants are possible for men. There's a great story of some guy on a bet who got implants put in ten years ago and has since kept them. If I remember his name, I'll pass that on.d
It's a good start Chris, but I think we could definitely do a bigger follow up to both sides of our argument.
